Tasting Note
A rich ruby colour in the glass, with complex aromas that leap out; black cherry, mocha, plum, hints of clove and vanilla with an elegant violet floral note. The palate shows ripe silky tannins with more dark fruits plus raspberry compote and toasty, charry oak flavours. The balance between fruit sweetness, flavour intensity and supple texture results in a wine of approachable elegance, with poise right to the finish where the savoury oak lingers on.
Food Matching
This wine will be a classic match for smoked, wood roasted or braised meats where it’s fruit notes and oak flavours will both be highlighted. Also try with dishes scented with green herbs such as thyme, oregano and tarragon, perhaps a chicken with fresh herb stuffing, or a tender fillet steak with herbed butter. Soft, creamy cheese like ripe, oozing Brie de Mieux will be wonderful after a meal, especially served with some walnuts alongside.
